Hayling Island Men's Shed

Hayling Island Men's Shed is not really just a shed, it's a huge barn-like structure full of tools and machinery. It was built by a team of dedicated men over four years, particularly for the health and wellbeing of retired men, who are perhaps struggling a little with the change from a structured working life. The shed is most definitely a Hayling Island shed; erected in the South Hayling United Reformed Church grounds in Mengham, the main town on Hayling Island and a short stroll from the sea.

Started in 2016 and completed at the beginning of 2020 the Shed has a lounge area where members (known as Shedders) can relax over a cup of tea and socialise, play cards, read, use the Shed's computers and access the internet. One of the most popular occupations is the Art Group.

The workshop has virtually all the tools members could wish for. We encourage Shedders to take up new pass times, to learn new skills from those members who already have them. They may then use those skills to support the community projects we are involved in or just enjoy the workshop and the facilities for their own projects.

The Shed welcomes visitors (for legal reasons you must be over eighteen) so please come and have a look around and see if you would like to be part of a community that strives to banish any loneliness and boredom that it's members may be suffering from and at the same time play a part in the larger community of Hayling Island.

Under normal circumstances the Shed is open Monday to Friday from 10:00am until 4:00pm.
